Water Lacertas !

The water lacertas is a large Lacertidae descendant from the group of the hydrolacertidae, a convergent evolution of the crocodilian's occured and they are now a new group of semi aquatical reptiles, but they are more adapted to live in sea than most of the crocodiles.
In fact it would be like a throw back to the mosasaurids, even if they are not the apex predators of their seas and mainly feed on smaller fishes. They snout isn't adapted to hunt large preys.
But this group of lizard is very successful.

The male water lacertas has a large bump on the back of the head to look bigger. Their reproductive behavior is somewhat similar to modern elephant seal, with a large mal for many females.
